Darrell McCallum has been in the appliance industry for over 35 years and opened North Texas Appliance in 1994. After 13 years on the square in Rockwall, the store moved to its new location at 1535 E Interstate 30, Rockwall, Texas. The new 20,000 square foot state of the art showroom houses the largest selection of appliances in north Texas and includes first quality appliances as well as a scratch and dent outlet, and a collection of home décor and gift items. Our interactive kitchen vignettes allow the customer to experience firsthand how the appliances will look and work in their homes. North Texas Appliance displays all major brand appliances, including GE, Whirlpool, Viking, Jenn-Air, KitchenAide, Maytag, Amana, and Electrolux. Most of the area’s finest custom homebuilders buy their appliances from us. We are very competitively priced and our service and expertise are second to none. Once a customer buys from us, they think of us first the next time they need appliances and we are very proud and grateful that they heartily recommend us to their family and friends. A Little History…
Darrell McCallum, owner of North Texas Appliance, grew up in the appliance business and continues a family business tradition that began in the 1940’s. Darrell’s grandparents, J.D. and Paralee Payne started Payne Furniture and Appliance on the square in Rockwall in the early 1940’s. They operated the business until the 1970’s when Darrell’s parents bought it from them. Darrell, a fourth generation Rockwall resident, remembers walking to the store every day after school as a first grader and earning money by dusting and sweeping, then later, in high school, working on the delivery truck. Darrell’s parents closed the store in the late 1980’s and Darrell continued working in the appliance industry. In 1994, Darrell decided to open his own appliance store on the square and North Texas Appliance was born.
Darrell operated on the square for 13 years and then moved the store to its new location at 1535 E Interstate 30. The new 20,000 square foot state of the art showroom houses the largest selection of appliances in North Texas and includes both first quality appliances as well as a scratch and dent outlet, and a collection of home décor and gift items.
North Texas Appliance continues as a family owned and operated business. Darrell runs the business, his wife, Sharon, helps with sales and manages the home décor, his son, Matt, is in charge of warehouse and delivery, his mother, Carol Lawrence, does the bookkeeping, and his step-father, Warren Lawrence, manages the scratch and dent department. Store manager, Collins Denton, has worked with Darrell since the business first started, repairman Keith Powell has been with him for eight years, and newcomers Daniel, Collin, and Lynda have recently joined our staff. In addition to our great selection of products, our friendly, expert service and hometown, family atmosphere make shopping at North Texas Appliance a truly pleasurable experience!
